Defibrillator
Background information about the project

For more information about Tur Langton's defibrillator click here

At the meeting on 15th March 2016, the Parish Council agreed to explore the possibility of purchasing a defibrillator for the village through a scheme run by the Community Heartbeat Trust.  The Trust has assisted many Villages, private companies and organisations to purchase and set up a Defibrillator.

Fundraising

A fundraising Hog Roast and Rod Stewart Tribute Band was held on 16th July 2016 at the Crown Public House.  not only did this raise a lot of funds but it was also an enjoyable village social event. Special thanks to Sharon, Trevor and Jan at the Crown who helped make it such a success.  As well as organising the event they have donated to the fund and organised the raffle. Individuals have also donated to the fund and a magnificent sum of £2,020 was raised.

Equipment

The total cost of the equipment was £2,001.00, including fitting.  The remaining £19 was spent on the hall hire for the Awareness Sessions.

The equipment has been obtained through a "Managed Solution" with the Community Heartbeat Trust.  This is a cost effective option which addresses the many liabilities.  For more information see the leaflet  - Own or Managed Solution?

The Parish Council has entered into an Annual Support Agreement with the Community Heartbeat Trust.  This  costs £126 a year and includes all electrodes (rescue or time expired); any replacement batteries, rescue kits; annual servicing on the equipment; loan equipment if ours went missing, plus a data download service post rescue.   There are no other costs.  The cost of £2,001 includes the first year Annual Support Agreement.  The funding for subsequent years will be raised through the precept.

Siting

The Parish Council has  adopted the existing telephone box for siting of the equipment; this places it in the centre of the village with access to all. There is also a power supply present.

Weekly checks

The equipment is checked weekly and the results reported through the Web based Notification System (WebNos)
